Illustrative engagement — a composite of how we work, not a named client.

Healthy traffic, an empty calendar

A professional services firm with a respectable site, a steady content habit and a partner group too busy delivering work to market it. Analytics looked healthy. The commercial reality was that nothing in the pipeline could be traced to marketing, and the last agency had reported on sessions because sessions were the number that looked good.

Where the gap actually was

Four candidates get checked in order, because each one invalidates the measurement of the next: is the traffic qualified, does the page offer what the ad promised, is the only available action too large for a first visit, and how fast is follow-up. Here the first and last were doing the damage. Campaigns were optimising toward an easy form fill, so the platform obligingly found people who fill in forms — and median time to first human contact, a number nobody had ever measured, was longer than the buying window for a category where three firms are contacted at once.

What changed

Conversion signal moved from form fill to qualified opportunity, so the platforms optimised toward something worth having. A smaller, genuinely useful first ask was added alongside “book a call” for the people who were weeks away rather than ready. And response time became a tracked number with an owner, which cost nothing and moved more than the media work did.

What we measured

  • Qualified opportunities, not enquiries
  • Median time from enquiry to first human contact
  • Cost per qualified opportunity by campaign and by audience
  • Influenced pipeline across the full sales cycle, not last click

Most “traffic but no leads” problems are diagnosis problems. The analytics work exists to tell you which of the four it is, rather than guessing.
