Build UTM links that land in the right GA4 channel
Tag one link or a whole list. See the GA4 channel each link will count under, catch the small mistakes that split your reports, then copy the link or turn it into a QR code.
A clean tagged link in under a minute
Paste the page
Add the page people should land on. Existing UTM tags are replaced and the #section stays at the end, where it works.
Pick where it runs
Start from a channel button or type your own source, medium and campaign. Capitals and spaces are cleaned as you type.
Check, then copy
See the GA4 channel and any warnings, then copy the link, open it, or make a QR code. Recent links stay in your browser.
Five habits that keep UTM reports clean
GA4 reads tags exactly as written, so Facebook, facebook and fb become three rows. These habits keep every click in one place.
- Write every value in lowercase, and pick one separator for the whole team.
- Use a source GA4 recognises, such as facebook, instagram or tiktok. A name it doesn’t know sends paid clicks to Paid Other.
- Start paid mediums with paid, or use cpc, so GA4 counts them as paid.
- Leave Google Ads to auto-tagging. GA4 gives the auto-tagged click priority over manual tags.
- Never tag links between pages of your own site. A new tag starts a new session and wipes out the real source.
Mediums GA4 reads by default
- paid_socialPaid Social, with a social source
- cpcPaid Search, with a search source
- socialOrganic Social
- emailEmail
- referralReferral
- affiliateAffiliates
- displayDisplay
- smsSMS
What marketers ask about UTM links
What is a UTM link?
A normal web address with tags added after a question mark, such as utm_source=facebook. Analytics tools read the tags to tell you which ad, email or post brought each visit.
Which UTM tags do I need?
utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. Add utm_content to tell ads or buttons apart, and utm_term for keywords or audiences. utm_id helps if you import cost data into GA4.
How does the tool know the GA4 channel?
It applies the rules Google publishes for the GA4 default channel group, including Google’s list of search, social, video and shopping sources. GA4 makes the final call, so treat it as a strong check rather than a guarantee.
Can I tag many links at once?
Yes. Switch to Many links and paste one row per link: page, source, medium, campaign, content, term, separated by commas or tabs, so you can paste straight from a spreadsheet. Empty cells take the values from the form. Copy all the links or download them as a CSV.
Should I add UTM tags to Google Ads?
No. Keep auto-tagging on and GA4 reads the click ID instead. If you want campaign or keyword names in your CRM, add the optional Final URL suffix from the Ad platform settings section.
Do my links get saved anywhere?
Only in your own browser, so you can find recent links again. Nothing is sent to us. Clear the list at any time.
